Development Workshop II - Windhoek, Namibia
April 2013

Darts Training Workshop, Namibia

Another development workshop was held in Windhoek, Namibia, at Ray-Mal Engineering's conference facility from 19 - 20 April 2013 by the Zone VI Confederation and the Namibia Dart Federation.

All regions were invited to attend, as well as corporate and tertiary institutions. These workshops will also be conducted in all other Zone VI countries, Namibia being the first to kick off. The intention is to encourage participation and development in these countries.

This workshop was attended by the dart clubs of the University of Namibia, the City of Windhoek, the Namibian Police Force, Afrox, CTC, officials from Zone VI Namibia and the coordinator of National Youth Development.

At the workshop a school in the Khomas region was adopted during a meeting. The adopted school is Dawid Bezuidenhoudt Secondary School and a cash donation was made by Mr. M. Khuppe for dart flights and accessories.

Special thanks go to the Namibian Dart Federation for sponsoring the event, the Zone VI President, Mr. Raymond O'Malley; the Zone VI Technical Director, Mr. Kassie Pretorius; the Zone VI Development Coordinator Mr. Ralph Ludwig, who is the current President of the Namibia Dart Federation; the Technical Assistant of Zone VI, Mr. Frans Husfieldt who is also the tournament director of Namibia, and the following people: Mrs. Kathy O' Malley, Mrs. Dianne Ludwig and Mrs. Mariaan Pretorius who all contributed to the success of the workshop.

It was a wonderful day for all who attended! The next development workshop will be held in Botswana in June 2013.

Dart greetings!

Development Workshop I - Windhoek, March 2013

Darts Training Workshop, Namibia

To promote the game of darts in Namibia, a training and development workshop was held at Ray-Mal Engineering Conference Centre in Windhoek, Namibia on 2 March 2013.

At present, only 5 regions in Namibia actively participate in playing darts. To encourage more participation teachers from all over Namibia were invited to attend the workshop. In the end about 20 teachers from 10 different regions were present.

The teachers were taught all about the game of darts, from the correct way to hold a dart to keeping score. They will hopefully take their new skills back with them and encourage more young Namibians to join and enjoy this wonderful sport.

The Workshop was sponsored by Ray-Mal and the National School Sports Union (NSSU). Zone VI Facilitators were: R. O'Malley, President of the Zone VI Darts Federation, R. Luwig, Youth Development Officer of Zone VI Darts, F. Husfieldt, Technical Secretary of Zone VI Darts Organising Committee, Mr Solly Duiker, National Youth Sports Coordinator and Mrs Katy O'Malley, National Youth Darts Coordinator.
